9th Virtus Open European Half Marathon & 10K Road Race Championships

From April 11 to 14, 2025, Genoa will host the 9th edition of the Virtus Open European Half Marathon & 10K Road Race Championships., an international event dedicated to athletes with intellectual disabilities.

The event is organized by ASD Cambiaso Risso for Special, in collaboration with ASD Podistica Peralto, FISDIR (Italian Federation of Relational Intellectual Paralympic Sports) and FIDAL (Italian Athletics Federation), with the approval of. Virtus Europe, the European Federation for Athletes with Intellectual Disabilities.

 

Event details.

  • Location: Genoa, Italy
  • Dates: April 11-14, 2025
  • Competitions:
    • Half Marathon (21.097 km) - reserved for athletes belonging to groups II1 and II3
    • 10K Road Race (10 km) - Open to all groups (II1, II2 and II3)
  • Technical organization: FIDAL Liguria, the Regional Committee of the Italian Federation of Athletics.
  • Official language of the event: English (volunteers will be available for translation)
  • Security and medical care: Health services and doping control guaranteed by the Italian Athletics Federation

Transportation and logistics

Genoa International Airport is connected to many European airports. The Organizing Committee will provide a dedicated transportation service for transfers to and from the airport and for travel during the championship.

Athletes and delegations will stay in comfortable hotel facilities, with accommodation in double rooms and full board.

 

Registration and costs

To participate in the event, the following registration process must be followed:

  1. Intent to participate: sending confirmation of participation by December 13, 2024
  2. First registration (number of participants) and payment of 30% of the fee: by January 24, 2025
  3. Final registration (named list of athletes) and payment of the balance of 70%: by March 7, 2025

The participation fee for each athlete or staff member is. 600 euro and includes:

  • Overnight stay in double room
  • Complete meals
  • Local transportation
  • Social program
  • Participation in official ceremonies

Added to this figure is the Virtus accreditation fee, amounting to 25 euros per person.

 

Regulations and participation requirements

The competitions will be held according to the regulations World Athletics e Virtus Europe.

All athletes must be duly registered with Virtus and be present in the Master List of the federation by the January 10, 2025.

Each athlete will be required to show his or her passport at the time of accreditation before the competition. Official doping controls will be conducted by the FIDAL.
